My peanut is allergic to tree nuts.

When we were in Aiken for Christmas, Caroline ate a cashew and had an immediate reaction.  Luckily, Allison was there, noticed it quickly, and knew just what to do.  Mom had some children's benadryl on hand, so with some benadryl and a bath, Caroline was good as new.  Scared me to death.  Our pediatrician referred us to an allergist, and we had our appointment yesterday.

Caroline has an allergy to tree nuts.  Her biggest reaction was to cashew, pistachio and coconut.  She is also allergic to the other tree nuts- walnut, almond, hazelnut and pecan.  While this is a bummer, it is much better than it could have been.  She had no reaction to peanut, so that is a relief- peanuts and peanut oil are in everything!
All of those marks under what looks like a C there are the tree nuts.

We will try to keep her away from tree nuts, carry an EpiPen with us as a precaution and pray that she is among the 10% of children who outgrow this particular allergy.  We go back in 12 months to have her retested.
